Batman #11 by Bill Finger, Bob Kane, Jerry Robinson and George Roussos may have tried a little too hard to demonstrate the fatherly affection Batman felt for Robin
Superman Vs Supergirl: The Duel of the Titans from Action Comics #402 (July 1971) really disturbed me as a kid… the Super-Cousins really got rough. OK, it was a Red K-style effect and they were chums again by the end of this Geoff Browne (Leo Dorfman)/Curt Swan/Murphy Anderson tale, but the memory of the sheer anger on display stayed with me.
Superman and Lois Lane were together for most of the Seventies but scenes of them on an actual date are rare. Here’s one from the fondly remembered Krypto spotlight, Who Was That Dog I Saw You With Last Night? It’s a charming read.

‘Great Krypton!’ ‘Great suns’ 'Moons of Krypton’ - I do miss Superman and Supergirl’s old exclamations. But was there ever one more obscure than this? Wegthor was one of those aforementioned moons. I don’t doubt that it was great, but I have no idea why… I expect there was a story. Somebody here probably read it. With the release of Supergirl Rebirth #1 today it seems a version of Kara’s Earth parents, the Danvers, are returning - Jeremiah and Eliza from the TV show. Peter David’s Fred and Sylvia were great in the Nineties, but my favourites will always be Fred and Edna, the originals, who debuted in the Silver Age and lasted to the Crisis on Infinite Earths. Here’s Edna showing hidden talents…
